INADVERTENT LOSS OF DATA(28May2020-19June2020)

Post by Pem »

Dear Members/Readers
Unfortunately, there has been a loss of data on all forums which seemed
to have accidentally happened whilst phpBB Technicians were carrying
out a maintenance check on Friday, 19 June 2020.
They are endeavouring to put things back in place.

However, if it fails, I do apologize on behalf of the Admin for this mistake.
And, I can only blame it on the trickster - Retrograde Mercury - which came
into effect yesterday.
Still, Nothing shall stop us from continuing our service to humanity.
So, I ask each and everyone to understand the situation and cope.

Kind Regards

Hi,

I'm inclined to think this is more to do with the current Rahu-Ketu transits around what is considered to be their exaltation regions - current global pandemic, regional strife, protests, natural calamities, computer virus attacks, hardware malfunction, data-loss etc. are probably some of the visible effects.

Mercury going Retro or Vakra does contribute to miscommunication, misrepresentation, misunderstandings etc.

Anyways, I wonder what might be restricting periodic data back-up, archival and some rudimentary disaster recovery plan/process. I'm aware of a handful of instances where-in phpBB forums have experienced multiple instances of outage and data-loss, in the last couple of months. Would be nice if the forum host/s took note and considered prevention or re-occurrences in the future.

Thanks...

There is no such thing as a perfect system; there will always be a failure that results in data loss. I have been using a raid system in my work for a long time. It is very convenient to work with several children's disks at once. Recently, however, the raid system started to get very laggy and later stopped working at all. I thought I had lost access to my files forever, but on the recommendation of my friends, I contacted salvagedata.com, and it was worth it. They fixed the raid very quickly and further optimized it. It was much easier to work now.
