Analyzing an old relationship

Note that synastry requires two charts to be set up and analysed so, before asking, please make sure that this is a serious relationship. This is a free board and our time to respond is limited.

Analyzing an old relationship

Post by moongirl »

Hello All!

I am looking at aspects from past relationships and trying to understand why this one relationship did not work out. If you look at the synastry chart, there are a lot of great aspects, but it still ended in divorce. One point that I noticed is the hard aspects to my Mercury. if I can't communicate with a person clearly and well, I can't see the point in maintaining the relationship. This was the case with us. He talks in circles and I am direct and to the point. He frustrated me so much in this one aspect. Also, there was very little passion between us, which always puzzled me. I was very attracted to him, and he me, but it was always awkward.

I am trying to understand why a synastry chart that looks great could turn out so badly. Help me find the clues in the charts to why this didn't work out.

Yes, your Mercury is squared by your guy's natal opposition, Moo-Jup, and Mer itself is in its own detriment and on the South Node, which means some painful sacrifices are to be made. But the more important thing is, in my opinion, the mutual attitudes between you and your potential partner in a natal chart, not in synastry, which is shown by natal receptions. Your s1, a natal 1st house ruler, exiles your s7 of partnerships because the Moon is in the s7's detrimental sign, Cancer, so you are innately prone to difficult relationships, no matter who your partner is. On the other hand, I would say that s7 Saturn, as well as your symbolic marriage rulers, Moon and Venus, are all great by their dignities, which makes your chances for a successful relationship much higher. But you can't ignore the negative reception s1–s7 and your damaged Mercury, so you need to acquire some amount of iron patience to manage your relationship regardless of whether you match or not. In terms of compatibility, I would rate this particular synastry chart as average.
