What generation are you?

An upcoming great sygzygy may fortell of a shift in generations. A great syzygy occurs when all the visible planets are lined up in the sky close together. The last one peaked on May 5th in the year 2000 and was quite good.
They can only occur when Jupiter and Saturn are near each other once every twenty years or so.

2000/05/05-07:49 Great syzygy width 25º 53'

Venus Taurus 5º 11'
Mercury Taurus 10º 37'
Sol Taurus 15º 08'
Jupiter Taurus 17º 13'
Saturn Taurus 19º 45'
Mars Gemini 1º 05'
Luna Gemini 1º 05'

2000/05/28-16:03 Jupiter conjuncts Saturn apart 1º 09' at Taurus 22º 44'

This year's one reaches its climax on the 18th of December but, as usual, due to the planets all being near the Sun it doesn't make for much of a sight. Your life may get a little interesting if you're a Scorpio or Sagittarius.

2017/12/18-14:22 Great syzygy width 54º 01'.

Mars Scorpio 5º 48'
Jupiter Scorpio 14º 33'
Vesta Scorpio 16º 27'
Mercury Sagittarius 14º 46'
Venus Sagittarius 21º 40'
Sol Sagittarius 26º 52'
Saturn Sagittarius 29º 49'
Luna Sagittarius 29º 49'

However, conditions are good for viewing a week later on the 25th, especially if you're in a good part of the world to see it, like, for instance, Christmas Island.

2017/12/25-22:22 Nice syzygy from Flying Fish Cove, Christmas Island.

This is just the beginning of some dramatic celestial events coming soon. As far as I know no planet has gotten this close to Pluto for a long, long time. And of them all it just so happens to be Mars.

2020/03/23-05:19 Mars conjuncts Pluto apart 38" at Capricorn 24º 44' from Leoncito Astronomical Complex.

But the really big next thing is the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn just 8 hours after the winter solstice! They are also very close; only 6 arc minutes. To make matters even more interesting, it's occurring in the first degree of Aquarius, an air sign. These great conjunctions have all been in earth signs but twice since 1802. They shall now stay in air signs until another great conjunction, also on a winter solstice, in 2159.

2020/12/21-18:21 Jupiter conjuncts Saturn apart 6' at Aquarius 0º 30' from Crawford Observatory, Ireland.

The pairing of Jupiter and Saturn naturally lead to another great syzygy. Note how Mars and Pluto are once again right near each other.

2022/03/02-22:28 Great syzygy width 47º 10' from Crawford Observatory, Ireland.

Venus Capricorn 27º 11'
Mars Capricorn 27º 32'
Pluto Capricorn 27º 50'
Juno Aquarius 11º 20'
Saturn Aquarius 19º 02'
Mercury Aquarius 19º 21'
Sol Pisces 12º 19'
Jupiter Pisces 14º 21'

Twenty five days later we can get a good view.

Many have noticed that there are generational groupings of people of about twenty years duration, such as the 'Baby Boomers', 'Generation X', 'Generation Y', etc. This is from Wikipedia;

The Strauss–Howe generational theory, created by authors William Strauss and Neil Howe, describes a theorized recurring generation cycle in American history. Strauss and Howe laid the groundwork for their theory in their 1991 book Generations, which discusses the history of the United States as a series of generational biographies going back to 1584. In their 1997 book The Fourth Turning, the authors expanded the theory to focus on a fourfold cycle of generational types and recurring mood eras in American history. They have since expanded on the concept in a variety of publications.

Could this have anything to do with the great conjunctions? Here are the dates for the great conjunctions and the generations as described by the authors.

A 1544/09/18 Scorpio Water Elizabethan Generation (1541–1565) (H)
B 1563/08/25 Cancer Water Parliamentary Generation (1566–1587) (A)

Thanks James for this brilliant, very detailed and absolutely tantalising information !

So much food for thought therein, and I'm sure that others will find it as exciting as I do.

Best,
Admin.

Thank you.

Another thing about that syzygy a couple days from now. The Sun is right over the galactic center. Do you see the lines crossing below 2 Sgr? That's where the exact center of the galaxy is.

I've always thought that the beginning of the New Age should happen some time around when the Sun is directly over the galactic center at the moment of the winter solstice. This will occur around the year 2225. Just for fun I looked to see if there were any interesting events happening around the time of a winter solstice in any of the years near then. How's this?

It's not just an ordinary total eclipse, but a super total eclipse; that is, the Moon is near perigee (closest to Earth).
But here's the real kicker; this view is from Mount Olympus!!!
