I am astro_mania with a new topic to discuss.
I have been practicing numerology since long. But I have paid no interest in change of name for improvement. I concentrated merely on how to predict more realistically.
It seems I need to consider the branch "Nameology". Many people who request my reading also request name change as if needed though I never suggested one. So I request you to respond with your views on this branch of numerology.

You mentioned this matter before, and thought I had responded with a question about name-changes, but can’t find it at this moment.
I did study this ‘name’ matter for some time, quite a while ago, but gave up on it as my interests went elsewhere. From the ‘system’ I used, each letter of the alphabet corresponds with it’s number (between A=1, to Z=26). (Must’ve used it a lot as I still don’t have to look up the numerical equivalent to each letter...seems to be ‘ingrained’).
For easy ref :
A 1. J 10/1. S 19/1.
B 2. K 11/2. T 20/2.
C 3. L 12/3. U 21/3.
D 4. M 13/4. V 22/4.
E 5. N 14/5. W 23/5.
F 6. O 15/6. X 24/6.
G 7. P 16/7. Y 25/7.
H 8. Q 17/8. Z 26/8.
I 9. R 18/9.
The nos. above 9 (from the letter ‘J’ = 10, K=11 etc.) are reduced to the single digit (1+0=1, and etc.). So the name ‘astro_mania’ would be 1+1+2+9+6+4+1+5+9+1=39/12/3. (Bear in mind that this is the name you have chosen for this particular ‘area’/medium, and are relevant only in the media or areas in which you use it, so the ‘meaning’ of this ‘name number’ is relevant only to those media in which you use that name).
Full names: First name(s) and family name would, of course be quite different and represent you in a different way.
In this system, the ‘whole name’ supposedly represents ‘The Path of Destiny’ number – which in turn, represents the ‘aim in life’ and ‘the path we must walk’. (This can be modified with name changes such as marriage, or nicknames that are used by others). (I won’t use your personal full name here of course so will use a random name): eg. Jane Mary Jones (Jane:1+1+5+5, Mary:+5+1+9+7, Jones: 1+6+5+5+1 = 52/7). So her ‘Path of Destiny’ is ‘7’.
A name is of course, comprised of Vowels and Consonants.
Vowels apparently indicate the ‘Soul Number’ – or what is the ‘real’ person within.
(NB: ‘y’ is considered both a vowel and a consonant, depending on how it is pronounced in the name. In ‘Mary’ it has a vowel sound; in a name such as ‘Yates’, for eg., it has a consonant sound. I have wondered about this and also about the letter ‘e’ which is often ‘silent’...but nothing was mentioned of this).

I just checked a few and one I went into (http://www.astroloka.com/numnamecalculator.aspx ) offered ‘Types’ of various systems including ‘Cherio’ (which I assumed was supposed to be ‘Cheiro’... the system you use?). Unfortunately the misspelling did put me off a bit, and also, unfortunately that particular site didn’t convey much to me about this particular system. Obviously there are many other sites relevant to this matter, which I’ll leave up to you to pursue...or not.
Naturally the name one is given at birth is of fundamental relevance. Name changes, whether by marriage, commonly used nicknames, or pen-names/nom des plumes, describe another ‘persona’ used and reacted/responded to by others.
As I said, I haven’t used name numerology for some time, so the foregoing may not be relevant to your numerology system. But, It surely has piqued my interest in the matter again.

Much of the information is must for a basic numerologist and it indeed helps in knowing why a need arises for balance of name.
My point is, if you are ready to take one more step, is there any special branch of numerology that is called "Nameology" that you came through? Have you ever gone through any findings related? I will be very happy to learn and I am very eager to know.
By the way, you didn't seem to lack either interest or knowledge of numerology. It is only practice, as you are more interested in mysteries of intriguing astrology, is lacking.

I propose a theory below which I made up for myself. I hope some one may want to try.
To detect the general trend of name, for being favourable or unfavourable can be as follows.
take your date of birth
I am taking mine : 19-9-1971
Find fate number : 1+9=10=1(date)
Find destiny number : 1+9+9+7+1=19=10=1(dob total)
take your name.
I am taking mine : prasad
I am using the cheiro's numbers.
p= 8
add fate number and destiny number on both sides
=181
keep the process for all letters.
181 = 10
121 = 4
111 = 3
131 = 5
111 = 3
141 = 5
Total = 796 =7+9+6=22
Now, you may refer to 22 to understand the combination of name and date of birth. As per cheiro, it refers a man who has great potential but is easily fooled or easily misdirected or misled. Easy to deceive still capable of large things. As such, this number is not preferred from worldly stand point.
If you observe the 30, the total from reduced numbers, it tells a person who is very much involved in self and always slow in general.
The above data is very true of me. It says the combination is not good if I want worldly success.(Whether I am ready for change or not is another matter)
So, I say that it is not impossible to judge the combination of name and date of birth as such and we can decide that without going into actual details of life(ie whether the name had helped him or not). But of course, as always the case, the experience to judge is also very important.

I think I should give some more information of my theory. Here it is how it goes.
First, let me clarify the reason why I took the combination of Fate number, Letter number and Destiny number as such.
I defined Fate as the work you would do instantly as a situation arises.
I defined Destiny as the path you are as the result of the works you have chosen, consciously or unconsciously.
The letter is part of an expression which gives you power to balance what you output.
Secondly, I wish to provide the letters a to z with numbers.
A = 1 N = 5
B = 2 O = 7
C = 3 P = 8
D = 4 Q = 1
E = 5 R = 2
F = 8 S = 3
G = 3 T = 4
H = 5 U = 6
I or J = 1 V = 6
K = 2 W = 6
L = 3 X = 5
M = 4 Y = 1
Z = 7
Now, there are different names that are in use for a person. For example, a birth name given is generally long or of less use. It may be subject to many changes from time to time. A person may be known by a number of names from time to time. I think I forgot to refer one important aspect. It is what to decide when the name is not favorable.
When a name is not favorable, it yields numbers that are not suitable to birth number(birth number being the immediate effect number). This process is complex and requires some experience.
When name is not favorable, you got to change your name. You cannot change your date of birth.
When your name is not favorable, Your name must be edited. A few letters may be added or removed.
As you add or remove letters, care should be taken that the flow that your name naturally follows is not disturbed. But it should better your way of decision.

But, you’re the detective and authority on this matter here, and it’s a large text to go through). Understand that it’s very complicated, unless one is a student of this way.
So, I see, you have used Cheiro’s ‘p=8, and added 1 (fate) and 1 (destiny), but not adding them together...just starting with 1) Fate=1, then Name: (first letter, in this instance ‘P=8), then adding Destiny No. = 1). But this isn’t ‘adding’, it’s ‘combining’ ?

Yes, indeed I agree that the process was combining. I must also admit that it is intense. But, since I was the inventor and practical authority, I think I can view the results from different angles.
First thing is I have applied this system and practical problems in one's life are revealed, without doubt.
When I work with compound or double digit numbers, the normal system that is recommended is to simply reduce them by adding digits together. That is, if 54 is encountered, you have to reduce it to 5+4=9 and then rise it to compound number by "rising", ie keep on adding 9s as long as it is not double digit. The first double digit or compound number that comes in our way is 18. Still, I have one personal system, which is very successful in looking at compound numbers and explaining more intensely. So, keeping both together, the points are very clear.
Once you worked out with the total value of your name using the "created" numbers, you may sit explaining individual numbers in accordance to final total as well as your date of birth. Of course, it requires knowledge of normal number relation, but if you have that idea, you can easily proceed further and determine the better number and the bad number. This helps in determining what letter is causing which action and what should be done to better the situation.
This all happens with your hard work and careful application. In case the results are not applying, please inform the case with details. We may finally come up understanding better or we may come up having some questions.
As far as the personal information is concerned, I suggest you to take up some famous personality to start with and test the theories like I do.
