From 28th of September this year fort night month of pitrupaksh is starting. Some places will also see lunar eclipse on this day, so you must consider this day as more important. Remember your elders that have passed away and ask for their blessings. The one whose father or mother no longer exists in this world must live a more sattvik life till the day on which they passed away. For example if your father or mother passed away on chaturthi then you must avoid any tamsik activity or food till chaturthi. Don't eat very spicy food, don't smoke or drink, don't eat garlic or onion, you must also not shave or cut hair during this day, if possible try to avoid brushing teeth as well, as it may cause bleeding in your gum and may break your sankalp. You must also practice brmhacharya during this period. You should not start any new business or plan any new event during this period. Postpone such matters till navratra and be devoted to the soul of your ancestors. Feed animal and birds during this period, specially crows. Respect your elders, if they will become happy you will receive their blessings don't make them angry as they may curse you and it can cause trouble. For those whose parents are still alive they should respect their parents.
