Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial objects as a means for divining information about human affairs and terrestrial events.Astrology has been dated to at least the 2nd millennium BCE, and has its roots in calendrical systems used to predict seasonal shifts and to interpret celestial cycles as signs of divine communications. Many cultures have attached importance to astronomical events, and some – such as the Indians, Chinese, and Maya – developed elaborate systems for predicting terrestrial events from celestial observations.

There are many different schools in astrology so the way of studying varies from one school to another. In vedic astrology, which is what i practice, the main concepts are to study the birth chart and some other divisional charts and understand the planetary positions and its impacts on our lives.

I find astrology fascinating, as many people of course do. I'd like to ask some experienced astrologers their opinion on the impact of astrology on humans nowadays compared to hundreds or even thousands of years ago, since astrologers say that many stars that we know of today do not actually exist anymore and have in fact burned out long ago, but we still feel their presence today and are even visible through a microscope as the stars are still traveling towards us. How does this affect the impact that these stars have on us and does this mean that in the future the star signs that we know today will no longer have the same meanings in the future? Thanks.

That's an interesting question. I guess that would depend on the time frame we're talking about. If we're talking about millions of years, then I suppose the answer would be yes.

Hello All,

Perhaps there are as many main concepts as there are astrologers. But for me, "as above, so below".

Whatever happens at a given time and place can be described by the causally unrelated phenomena in the universe around it. The description itself is poetic, not prosaic.

Whatever happens at a given time and place can be described by the causally unrelated phenomena in the universe around it. Causally unrelated, but synchronistically connected- of the same fundamental meaning or virtue. Of this other phenomena, it is the planets and stars that provide the most convenient patterns for study and categorization. The description itself is poetic, not prosaic. You can't tell whether a given horoscope corresponds to the birth of a man or a woman, or the building of a sports stadium for that matter, but you can tell what sort of man, woman or sports stadium it will be. A strong Jupiter makes for an optimistic person or a stadium with an international reputation, a strong Venus for a diplomatic person or a stadium noted for elegant gymnastics.

I'd say the main concept of astrology is cosmic synchronicity. This solar system is a school of soul development. We learn its energetic principles (Sun, Moon, planets, etc) before moving on to our next adventure.

Astrology is the science of the effects of the planets movements on our lives and all things. Astrology is based on astronomy in that astrologers need to know the correct positions of the planets at any given time, as well as the correct positions of the zodiacal fixed star signs in relation to any place on earth at any given time
