Meanings of Degrees in Astrology
I've seen some guides with "meanings" for each degree, do you believe these are accurate or is it the degree itself what you put significance on?
Re: Meanings of Degrees in Astrology
Hi IfIKnewBetter,
The 'degree symbols' are an adjunct to the chart. In other words, they give extra colour and meaning to each planet or major point (Asc./Midheaven etc.), and can be very helpful to define further the whole chart.
There are many sources for these, as you may have noticed. Which source are you looking at in particular ?

Re: Meanings of Degrees in Astrology
I was looking at the ones by Ellias Lonsdale. But I've seen so many, and each has a different interpretation than the others that it makes me wonder if they are accurate at all.
Re: Meanings of Degrees in Astrology
I do like the Elias Lonsdale degree symbols as they are fairly straightforward and easy to understand (at least as far as 'symbols' can be).
Basically, they are all so different because they are 'scryed' by different people who 'see' different symbols when they are concentrating on each degree. This doesn't make them inaccurate, it just gives them a wide variety of interpretations. Naturally this can create doubts about their accuracy.
However, if you wish to use them it is a good idea to stick to one author - much like choosing a particular House System or style of astrology (e.g. Western or Vedic etc.). So if you are going to use them, 'play' with them until you find one you prefer and which suits your way of interpretation. Remember, they are supposed to be 'abstract' and therefore very open to each person's needs with regard to interpretation.
Hope that helps.

Re: Meanings of Degrees in Astrology
Thanks for the information. I'll think about whether I'll want to integrate them or not in my chart interpretations.
