major planets or astrology and titius bode

Ceres, Pallas, Juno, Vesta, Chiron and others such as new 'planetoids', Eris, Sedna etc.

major planets or astrology and titius bode

Post by iauiugu »

So this is kinda a big question, and sorry that I'm a beginner with this stuff -- but I'm wondering how people are approaching and seeing the particularly disorderly time right now with studying and incorporating the ballooning number of minor planets and asteroids in our solar system into a workable astrological system

Specifically I'm curious how people are considering any additions to the central pantheon of planetary archetypes, including the ancient seven, uranus, neptune, and pluto, and how exactly such a thing might be accounted for, if at all

I think that there should reasonably be around 12 central planetary/luminary archetypes in line with the signs and houses, but how the others could be determined seems undecided on

Some, like astronomers, seem to go based on material size of the minor planets, which undoubtedly boosts support for Eris, as one of (or just) the most massive minor planet(s) (and likewise find Chiron's importance overemphasized given its diminutive scale)

But personally I think there should be some underlying pattern of the planetary position in the solar system, giving the pattern-centered nature of astrology

as such I feel like the titius-bode orbital periodicity model a good basis for looking at the significance of planetary archetypes, as it reflects the actual pattern of planetary distances from the sun, following a pattern similar to the fibbinocci sequence. the model is currently ill-considered by most in astronomy as Neptune violates the model and caused it to lose favor (though to be fair Neptune is essential at a half interval of the primary sequence), but given recent studies show that it holds for some distant solar systems and for the moons of jupiter and uranus, the system may gain more favor in astronomy again, too

i attached a chart of various bodies in the solar system and a simple version of the titius-bode equation. the bodies colored blue are at half intervals, while the pink ones are at quarter intervals

as such, the model would suggest that ceres and sedna are much more important than presently considered, and that an as-of-now unnamed minor planet would be more prominent than the minor planet Eris

of course this is only my idea, but the significance of the fibbinoci sequence throughout nature as a recurring motif is hard for me to ignore as significant

Hi iauiugu, and welcome.

Yes that is 'kinda a big question'. I love such as this and will attempt to respond to, at least parts of it, but need to ...ponder.

I'll also make sure that others here on on the forum, who I know might be better versed in various parts of your query, are aware of your post !

Thanks again.

Admin.

I agree with Admin, this is a very important set of questions that astrologers will all, one day, have to face. We need to ask ourselves more questions as each new planet, dwarf planet, asteroid and body is discovered.

Personally, I have only just begun exploring these new bodies, asking other astrologers, like Admin, reading up on the internet and then applying this new found knowledge to my own and others charts.

Chiron has always been a favourite of mine since the 80's so he made me realise very early that size and place does not matter in astrology, Pluto is another example. Adding Ceres to my readings has been a bonus find for me as she is powerful in my own chart at the moment. Eris, Sedna and the other Pluto types, Trans Neptunians, they all have something to offer, I just need to work on them with real people, real charts, real events.

In my opinion astrologers need to find ways to order and apply the knowledge we are uncovering about these extra points, and that takes time and hard work.

Iaugu, I really appreciate the time you have taken to examine and developing your system of information, please, keep doing and keep us posted, let's see where this leads us.

I posted this on this site under "Day and night asteroids" under the "Recent Ideas in the Ancient Arts" forum.

Day rulership

Sign Planet

Leo Sun
Virgo Mercury
Libra Venus
Scorpio Mars
Sagittarius Jupiter
Capricorn Saturn
Aquarius Uranus
Pisces Neptune
Aries Juno
Taurus Pallas
Gemini Ceres
Cancer Vesta

Night rulership

Sign Planet

Leo Vesta
Virgo Ceres
Libra Pallas
Scorpio Juno
Sagittarius Neptune
Capricorn Uranus
Aquarius Saturn
Pisces Jupiter
Aries Mars
Taurus Venus
Gemini Mercury
Cancer Moon

To this an alternative might be added:

Day rulership

Sign Planet

Leo Sun
Virgo Mercury
Libra Venus
Scorpio Mars
Sagittarius Jupiter
Capricorn Saturn
Aquarius Uranus
Pisces Neptune
Aries Pluto
Taurus Haumea
Gemini Makemake
Cancer Eris

Night rulership

Sign Planet

Leo Eris
Virgo Makemake
Libra Haumea
Scorpio Pluto
Sagittarius Neptune
Capricorn Uranus
Aquarius Saturn
Pisces Jupiter
Aries Mars
Taurus Venus
Gemini Mercury
Cancer Moon

Would the Titius Bode formula work in some way here?

Hi James, interesting analysis, just on the Titius-Bode Law.

Wiki-"The Titius–Bode law (sometimes termed just Bode's law) is a hypothesis that the bodies in some orbital systems, including the Sun's, orbit at semi-major axes in a function of planetary sequence. The formula suggests that, extending outward, each planet would be approximately twice as far from the Sun as the one before. The hypothesis correctly anticipated the orbits of Ceres (in the asteroid belt) and Uranus, but failed as a predictor of Neptune's orbit and has since been discredited further. It is named for Johann Daniel Titius and Johann Elert Bode."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titius%E2%80%93Bode_law

So, the law does apply in some but not for others. What I am thinking is that we will be a bit overcome by the addition of all these extra points, eventually, for sanity's sake, we will either need asteroid specialists and planet specialists, or ruthlessly cut out many of these extra points to a number that we can sensibly use in an astrology reading. For researchers, then the sky is the limit, but for practitioners working with the public too many points slows the reading process. I am hoping that one day we will find a method that works, like what you are proposing in some ways.

Hey James --

In terms of titius-bode, I'm not sure where trans-Neptunians like Makemake and Humea would lie in the sequence, other than Eris and Cardea. i'm pretty sure that Vesta and the other Main Belt asteroids are at the same numerical distance as Ceres

I'm unfamiliar with a lot of what's in your system though, but it's probably because I know nothing of numerology -- I've never figured out where to start. I also don't know how the signs would relate to titius-bode, since it's focused on the astronomical attributes of the planets only

Neptune has been found to fit with the sequence at a half-interval, though it's discovery did lead to the downfall of titius-bode among reputable scientists a century ago. It's recently been vindicated in several ways, but it doesn't work with the top theory for how a solar system forms (gravity and accretion-focused), so it's full acceptance is pendant on that

Before I delved in astrology, I was interested in alternative theories for how the cosmos works physically, and got pretty into theories that define electromagnetism and plasma as central to the cosmos's unfolding, while the present top theory is mainly about nuclear forces and gravity (THE BIG BANG - focus on force, action, causality, destruction, the typical patriarchal, left-brained bias). titius-bode would work better with electromagnetic theories, but the math behind them was too much for me ):
