Hi All

Can we use our Free will ?

What shastra says on this ?

eg. Astrologer says today you will eat apple & if i am decided not to eat apple so will apple will be eaten by me.

I mean can somebody say that some decision will be taken by me seeing my birth chart.

The upachaya houses. (3,6,10 and 11) are houses of free will.
3 deals with hobbies, 6 deals with daily routine, 10 deals with your job and karma, 11 deals with the fruits of job (salary) and karma.

If you see, all the above houses are in the hands of native.

I think I got this about 24 years back from my first Guru. I don't remember the exact verses - but he tried to link Bhagavadgita (on Karma) to Upachaya houses.

AFAIK, It is not written anywhere that these are free will houses. However, if you see each house and understand what it signifies - you may understand that these houses' significations are completely in our hand.

Upachaya in Sanskrit means that will improve with time and effort.

but Destiny shall prevail (the will of the Creator).

Isn't it determined by the type of Karma someone has accumulated? I was taught the following:

Prarabhda Karma: You are fated to go through these karmas in this life. There is no free will here.

Sanchita Karma: Your free will has some influence here.

Agami Karma: Your Free will has the most power to influence here.

So you cannot do anything about your fully matured Karma, but the karmas that have not yet fully matured yet because you can still do things to lessen them or even prevent them entirely- those things your free will can have a say.

Yes, Karma of course - Sanchitta, Prarabdha and Agami.

Now, you see the following:
1) First house or Lagna deals with health. Some are born with ill health. While some get ill health due to their hobbies (3rd house). 3rd house has argala on 1st. Similarly, some people improve health after born. So, major part of first house which deals with health and intelligence comes from Karma. You can't change much of this.

2) 2nd house deals primarly deals with one's family and accumulated wealth. You can't choose your family where you should be born. This is fully Karma.

Like this if you see majorly all houses are Karma based but upachayas have higher amount of free will - or basically Karma being done in this life.

What i am asking suppose
1) Astrologer predict an accident so should i go on road & face vehicle because it is already written & we do not have free will.
2) Astrologer has predicted that you will be MAD in future so though i normal but should start behaving like MAD because it is written & we do not have free Will.
